*Horst Rösner is the only surviving crewman of U480. As fate would have it he chose not to board U480 on its final departure due to a premonition and his own superstition as while they were having repairs done to her hull a woman was allowed on board to tour the vessel.  Old maritime traditions of bad omens if a woman should set foot on board a ship before they set sail caused Horst to decline his post with U480 and went on to serve his country on another vessel, thus missing the fate of his fellow crewmen.
