Signalman TA - Temporary Sub- Lieutenant

Regina, Saskatchewan

From a letter to Captain R. A. Darlington (Royal Canadian Navy, Retired) November 10, 2004 regarding The Canadian Naval Chronicle 1939 - 45

“Dear Bob:

Your book has indeed provided me with a “great read” and has brought back a thousand memories of my wartime experiences.

During the war I kept a very brief diary of the major events I witnessed and the time and dates of those events.  in our discussion the other week, you asked if your book realistically portrayed the several events of Operation Torch in North Africa in keeping with my recollection of those times.  I said that in my estimation, it was avery well chronicled and presented accurately.  Your comment cause me to refer to my little diary, now some 60 years old, and it suggested to me that you might be interested in reading of the events from a person directly involved in several of the operations you so accurately described.”
