SOC. LOND. IN RESUSCITAT. INTERMORTUORUM. INSTIT. MDCCLXXIV , which in full would be
Societas Londini in resuscitationem intermortuorum instituta MDCCLXXIV
'The Royal Humane Society established in London for the recovery of persons in a state of suspended animation 1774'.
Around the edge on the reverse:
Hoc pretium cive servato tulit ;
'He (or she) won this reward for having saved the life of a fellow citizen'.

The abbreviated inscription is:
VIT OB SERV D D SOC REG HUM, which In full this would be:
VITAM OB SERVATAM DONO DEDIT SOCIETAS REGIA HUMANA
'The Royal Humane Society presented this gift for saving life'.
